Crown Restaurant Group’s newest restaurant is finally here after months of construction.
Bar Rosso, located at the former Five Kitchen & Bar space at 1324 Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine, will open this Wednesday. Notably, the menu is rather short: steak, frites, and vermouth.
For a fixed price of $50, guests receive warm bread and a “signature salad” alongside a steak tenderloin and unlimited fries. (Vegetarian guests can instead opt for a pasta option.) The menu will also feature a variety of vermouth-based cocktails.
“With Bar Rosso, we wanted to build a menu that feels confident and complete rather than crowded,” said Chef Anthony Sitek, the co-owner of Crown Restaurant Group, in a statement. “We’re going to execute what people enjoy the most – a perfect steak, frites, and a cocktail.”
Bar Rosso’s dishes are made entirely from scratch; the restaurant will feature an in-house butchery, and the restaurant group’s central bakery will provide fresh bread daily.
Crown Restaurant Group currently operates the popular steakhouse Losanti in OTR and Crown Cantina in Pendleton alongside downtown restaurants Crown Republic Gastropub, Marigold and Rosie’s Italian. The Siteks closed Five Kitchen & Bar back in May, promising a wholly new concept would open in the space this fall. With Bar Rosso, they’ve delivered on that promise.
“Anthony and I wanted to bring something sophisticated but relaxed to the heart of downtown Cincinnati — a place where guests can dress up for a special night out or stop in after work and feel just as comfortable,” said Haley Nutter-Sitek, co-owner of Crown Restaurant Group, in a statement. “Bar Rosso is that elevated, easygoing escape we’ve always pictured.”
