Cincinnati Police said three people were shot in a busy section of Over-the-Rhine on June 25.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. near Brown Bear Bakery on 1300 Clay Street, according to CPD. The area is near Main Street’s entertainment district and the popular bar Longfellow.

Police said three people were shot, including a woman, 26, and two males ages 20 and 17. A fourth person was said to be grazed by a bullet. Of the three who were shot, police said one victim’s injuries are considered serious. An investigation is ongoing.

The 17-year-old victim is at least the 35th juvenile to be shot in Cincinnati this year, more than triple the number of juvenile shooting victims in 2022.

Police and city officials focused heavily on the Main Street business and entertainment district last summer after nine people were injured in a shooting outside Mr. Pitiful’s bar on Aug. 7.

The city responded with controversial sidewalk barricades to limit the number of people who could gather outside, angering some locals who told CityBeat it made the street feel like a prison. Resident and business backlash also zeroed in on sidewalk accessibility for those using wheelchairs and other mobility aids.

Parking on Main Street, during that time, was also limited to daytime operations, another reaction from the city that was met with mixed reviews from Main Street employees and customers.
