This weekend hosts an inundating clusterfuck o’ good shows! So intimidating that one o’ those nights I may need to take a detox day and lay off o’ the sauce and stay home, rather than make crucial band viewing decisions. My liver needs a well-deserved furlough. I recommend you man up and go out though. —-
Who am I kidding? MUST! ROOOOOOOOOOOOOCK!
Tonight: The Pomegranates are releasing their sophomore album at the Southgate House with The Headlights, Matthew Shelton’s Picnic and Enlou in tow. The Harlequins are in the Parlour. All ages show. Wussy’s CD release soiree is going down at the Northside Tavern with The Fervor. And Make it Nasty and Science and Garfunkel take over The Comet. Challenge the uber moustasheod Tim Willig to a chair dance off! He likes that sort o’ thing.
On Saturday night, Coltrane Motion, Culture Queer and You, You’re Awesome rock the Northside Tavern. YYA plays first and if you haven’t seen them yet, get your ass out and be ready to become insta-smitten like the rest of us have been for months now. If you are able to resist dancing and bobbing to their deliriously contagious live show, you are probably dead on the inside. Consider it official and start digging a hole in your backyard now. Also on Sat., The J. Dorsey Blues Band and The Lions Rampant open up for American music underground punk/garage legend Dex Romweber’s newest musical proliferation, The Dexter Romweber Duo.
St. Patty’s Day kicks off early on Fountain Square this Saturday at 10 a.m. with the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, “O’Nati’s Irish Pub” and five bands including traditional Irish tuneage and The Seedy Seeds. The debauchery continues until 9 p.m. You know what this means, downtown desk jockeys? You can ever-so-casually leave your office for beer breaks on the square throughout the day. WOO HOO! Make your Leeny proud!
Dancewise, Gerald’s DJin’ down at Grammer’s on Friday night per yoozh and check MisterDoctor at the C&D on Saturday.
Choose wisely or make a progressive drink party out o’ all the stops on the revelry train.
