Some of the best conversations and chances to learn come from enjoying food together; that’s why Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) is using its new program to cook up ways for everyone to learn more about food and the science, history and the community influence behind it.
In November, CMC will open its new Cr(EAT)e Culinary Studio, a versatile programming space that turns the kitchen into a laboratory, allowing all ages to explore the science behind food – from chemical reactions that can change a dish’s flavor and texture to the motor skills needed to create those dishes. The studio will feature the Kroger Food Lab and be outfitted with multiple cooking stations that include ovens and ranges.
The culinary studio will feature programs for a variety of age ranges, including students, young adults and ones where kids and adults can cook together. Attendees will prep and cook their way through classic and experimental recipes while learning the science and history behind them.
“Food is a pathway to history, culture and memory-making across multiple generations. It creates a delicious and accessible tapestry that tells our regional and family stories,” Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of CMC, said in an August press release. “The Cr(EAT)e Culinary Studio featuring the Kroger Food Lab will use food’s unique ability to bring people together to deepen our sense of community, our understanding of science and our appreciation of history.”
