The Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) is cooking up a new way for everyone to learn more about food and the science, history and community influence behind it.

In November, CMC will open its new Cr(EAT)e Culinary Studio, a versatile programming space that turns the kitchen into a laboratory, allowing all ages to explore the science behind food – from chemical reactions that can change a dish’s flavor and texture to the motor skills needed to create those dishes. The studio will feature the Kroger Food Lab and be outfitted with multiple cooking stations that include ovens and ranges.

In addition to learning more about the science of food, visitors will also learn about the food history and community in the Cincinnati region, as well as in other cultures.

“Food is a pathway to history, culture and memory-making across multiple generations. It creates a delicious and accessible tapestry that tells our regional and family stories,” Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of CMC, said in a press release. “The Cr(EAT)e Culinary Studio featuring the Kroger Food Lab will use food’s unique ability to bring people together to deepen our sense of community, our understanding of science and our appreciation of history.”

CMC will partner with staff, community partners, local chefs and foodies as part of its Cr(EAT)e Culinary Studio programming, which will include everything from one-hour classes to weeklong museum camps and that are designed for children, adults, couples and groups.

CMC says the Cr(EAT)e Culinary Studio is another new museum experience made possible by its $112 million Champion More Curiousity campaign.
