The Cincinnati Ukrainian Festival is back in town this weekend. Local nonprofit organizations Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA), Branch 144, Hope4Ukraine and Cincy4Ukraine are partnering together to bring the festival back this summer, with proceeds going to medical equipment and supplies needed in Ukrainian hospitals.
The UNWLA has united women of Ukrainian descent and affiliation for nearly a century, promoting and developing educational efforts worldwide. Cincinnati’s UNWLA branch says that the festival is about showcasing Ukrainian uniqueness, the power of unity and creative voices.
Cincy4Ukraine works with the first responders of Ukraine, gathering clothes, medical equipment, first aid kits and more. Their work ensures that every person in need, regardless of background, receives essential resources and aid.
Hope4Ukraine also supports Ukrainian civilians during the time of struggle and adjustment and celebrates the culture and the strong, free spirit of the Ukrainian people.
The Cincinnati Ukrainian Festival is an opportunity to learn more about the rich culture of Ukraine through delicious food, artists, dancers, crafts and even children’s activities. From crepes, pierogi and benderyky to ohirky, Crimean chebureki and varenyky, the food provided promises to give visitors a delicious tour of Ukrainian cuisine.
The festival will be held on Aug. 5 from noon-7 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, 691 Fleming Road, in Springfield Township. Come alone or bring the whole family to celebrate a day of unity, culture and community. For more information, visit cincinnatiukrainianfestival.com.
