It’s the Lenten season in Cincinnati, which can only mean one thing: fish fry Fridays are back (that, and someone you know has given up chocolate for the next 40 days). So many churches — plus assorted savvy eateries — in Greater Cincinnati are offering some type of special fried fish dish on Fridays. Here are some of our favorites.

R&R Quality Meats If anyone doesn’t want to wait until dinner for fish fry fun, R & R has them covered with their lunch menu. They offer fish tacos, lobster mac, a cod sandwich, grilled cheese, shrimp baskets and sides on their lunch and dinner menus every Friday in Lent and Ash Wednesday. Germania Society Klubhaus Colerain’s Germania Society is hosting a Friday fish fry during Lent at the Germania Klubhaus. According to their website, they will be serving Orange Roughy this year which can be ordered as a sandwich or platter. The menu includes New England Clam Chowder, mac and cheese, collard greens, hushpuppies and desserts and a cheese pizza for the kids. St. William Parish St. William’s is celebrating another Lenten season with a weekly fish fry, and this year it’s doing drive-thru only. Put an option like the “Magnificod Platter” on the menu and we’re intrigued. The platter comes with a hand-breaded cod, fries, two hushpuppies and coleslaw.
