Fan-favorite BLINK activation Asianati Night Market returned for the 2024 festival, bringing with it plenty of delicious food, interactive games and displays to celebrate Asian culture — all of which helped draw a record-breaking crowd, according to organizers.
During BLINK, the immersive activation transformed Court Street Plaza into an authentic, bustling Asian night market. Organizers said this year’s night market would be an expanded experience after seeing 540,000 visitors at the 2022 BLINK festival. Asianati projects that this year brought in more than 800,000 people.
In total, 14 local AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) restaurants participated in the Asianati Night Market, with culinary offerings showcasing a diverse array of street-style cuisine from eight countries, ranging from skewers and dumplings to desserts and bubble tea.
“This four-day event brought the vibrant atmosphere of Asia’s bustling night markets to Court Street Plaza while providing local AAPI-owned businesses with incredible exposure and support,” Asianati’s Lam Dang shared in a press release.
Other highlights of the night market included performances, interactive, glow-in-the-dark games and appearances by Kristina Cho, a two-time James Beard Award winner. The activation also included beautiful lantern displays, lion dances and cultural activities for attendees of all ages.
