Trans-Siberian Orchestra is bringing its long-running Christmas “multi-sensory extravaganza“ back to U.S. Back Arena this holiday season. The group’s musical/theatrical “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” tour comes to Cincinnati on Dec. 14 for two shows (4 p.m. and 8 p.m.).Tickets (starting at $41.50) for both shows go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.
A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to several local organizations and charities — The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden; Alzheimer’s Association; St. Joseph Orphanage; The Music Resource Center; and Toys for Tots.
The tour (sponsored by The Hallmark Channel) comes after the imminent release of a 20th-anniversary edition of TSO’s The Christmas Attic album, the second installment of the ensemble’s The Christmas Trilogy. The re-issue is being released through Rhino Entertainment on Sept. 28, just in time to be synched up to your front-yard holiday light display.
Founded by musician/composer Paul O’Neill (who died last year), TSO’s Prog/New Age holiday spectacle has netted $675 million on the road and sold 12 million albums and DVDs. Last year’s winter tour alone made $61.5 million and sold around a million tickets.
