Want something fun to do that the whole family can enjoy? Come out to Eden Park and join in the celebration on Saturday and Sunday to mark the 22nd anniversary of Cincinnati’s Juneteenth Festival. Organizers have planned an action-packed afternoon and evening to celebrate and commemorate the end of American slavery in 1865. Saturday’s 12:30 p.m. opening ceremonies will include a “Parade of Flags” recognizing the origins and destinations of enslaved Africans at the Seasongood Pavilion. The ceremonies will also feature speeches by men dressed up as Frederick Douglass and Abe Lincoln accompanied by African drumming and dancing.

Other activities Saturday include friendly competitions, tracing your family tree, mini-classes about job skills, exhibits by museums and much more. Sunday will feature a special Father’s Day concert at the Seasongood Pavilion running from 2 to 6 p.m. This concert will offer families a relaxing afternoon of inspirational music, including performances by talented young classical musicians, liturgical dancers, several outstanding church choirs and the dynamic Cincinnati Gospel Workshop Choir. If you enjoy the outdoors and spending time with your family, this event will be well worth attending.
