U.S. News and World Report released its list of the top high schools in the country and some Cincinnati-area schools received high rankings.
Nearly 24,000 schools were ranked by the magazine using criteria that included college readiness, state assessment proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.
Walnut Hills came in second in Ohio, ranking behind Ohio’s number one high school, Ottawa Hills in Toledo. Wyoming came in third, India Hills fifth, Madeira sixth and Turpin in tenth.
Across the river in Kentucky, Beechwood in Fort Mitchell came in third and Highlands in Fort Thomas ranked fifth in the state.
Overall, Ohio ranked 24th in the country with 750 Ohio schools making the list. Close behind, Kentucky ranked 27th in the country with 225 schools making the list.
