The Northern Kentucky Health Department has identified 37 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including its first pediatric case.

The pediatric coronavirus patient is a resident of Boone County. Their age was not disclosed in a press release.

“It appears that the number of lab-confirmed cases is rapidly increasing,” said District Director of Health Lynne Saddler in a release. “If we are going to prevent the spread of COVID-19, every single one of us in Northern Kentucky must do better at social distancing and staying at home.”

Of the 37 cases, there are 20 cases in Kenton County, eight cases in Campbell County, eight cases in Boone County and one case in Grant County.

There has also been a second presumptive death from the virus: a Kenton County resident over the age of 80 who had underlying health issues.

All non-essential businesses in Kentucky have been closed to in-person traffic as of March 26 and those that are open must follow guidelines regarding social distancing and sending sick employees home.

NKY Health has a landing page with more information about COVID-19, including who is at risk, what you can do to prevent getting sick, what you should do if you think you may be sick, how to deal with the anxiety surrounding COVID-19 and more about what exactly social distancing is.
