Think you know the story of Cinderella? It’s a sure bet you’ve never seen it the way it’s being presented at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati — with a nearsighted bookworm heroine, a pair of self-absorbed stepsisters, a diva of a stepmother and a fairy godmother who’s really a “well-wisher.” No glass slippers for this gal: she prefers sneakers, and that’s what her bespectacled Prince Charming must use to hunt her down. ETC’s charming musical has a sweet message about intelligence and beauty by Joe McDonough, David Kisor and Fitz Patton. The show is still onstage for families seeking one final holiday outing.

Through Jan 3. $28-$44. Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, 1127 Vine St., Over-the-Rhine, 513-421-3555, ensemblecincinnati.org.
