It’s almost Lent, which can only mean one thing in Greater Cincinnati: Fry-day Fish Fry Season. So many churches — plus assorted savvy eateries — in Greater Cincinnati are offering some type of special fried fish dish on Fridays. Here are some of our favorites.

Kolping Society 10235 W. Mill Road, Springfield Township This fish fry is held every Friday from March 7 to April 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., doors open at 5 p.m. They’ll be offering fried or baked fish dinners for $14, shrimp dinners for $15, fried fish sandwiches for $12 and LaRosa’s cheese pizza for $2 a slice. The Kolping Haus bar is open with domestic and German beer offerings, and there will also be split-the-pot and a weekly bourbon raffle. Dine-in and carryout available. Taste of Belgium Multiple locations Taste of Belgium is offering a limited-time Lenten menu, including the Shrimp & Grits Waffle, a cheddar grits waffle with Cajun-spiced shrimp in a Creole white wine sauce with green onions. Other new meatless options include: Fish & Frites, a Kwaremont beer-battered haddock with kale slaw, tartar sauce and frites; the Nicoise Salad, seared tuna with 80 Acres greens, haricots verts, fingerling potatoes, sweet baby peppers, grape tomatoes, olives, hard-boiled egg and red wine vinaigrette; a Fish Sandwich, made with Kwaremont beer-battered haddock, kale slaw and tartar sauce, served on a brioche bun; Mussels du Jour, prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients; and the Farmer’s Fresh Ciabatta Sandwich, a cucumber, tomato, carrot, spinach and herbed farmer’s cheese on house-made ciabatta.
