UPDATE: The city had dropped that number to three because one of the males was located in the suburbs, not the city itself.
The City of Cincinnati now has four confirmed cases of COVID-19.
In a press conference with Mayor John Cranley, Cincinnati Health Department Commissioner Melba Moore announced that three males and one female, with an age range of 31 to 70 years, have tested positive for the virus. One person is hospitalized and they are confirming the location of the other individuals.
At least one person has no history of travel, so Moore said there are concerns about community spread. The health department is actively investigating and charting the close contacts of those who have tested positive. All tests were conducted by private labs.
“(COVID-19 is) clearly here,” Mayor Cranley said.
“What we need folks to do now more than ever is stay at home if you can,” he said, noting that if you do have to go out to work or the grocery store, try to maintain a six-foot social distance.
He also recommended that you wash your hands frequently, disinfect surfaces as much as possible, try not to touch your face and cough into a tissue or your elbow, and encourage others to do the same.
