Every holiday season I start out in a good mood, but by the time I’ve seen a dozen or so seasonal shows, I’m about ready to hit someone with a fruitcake. That’s pretty much the attitude behind Cincinnati Shakespeare’s annual poke at the holidays, Every Christmas Story, which begins with a reading of A Christmas Carol but quickly slides down the slippery slope of wassail, treacle and hearty good cheer for a non-stop 90 minutes of twisted stories, satirical carols, TV specials and silly jokes. Presented at Arnold’s Bar & Grill, you’ll have the best time if you come for dinner (beginning at 6 p.m.) or a few drinks to get in the mood. This year’s production, the fourth for Cincinnati audiences, is directed by Jeremy Dubin, who says, “The show has become a very personal holiday tradition for all of us. Returning audiences will enjoy a fresh round of new jokes and new audiences will be amazed at Sara Clark’s frighteningly accurate Jimmy Stewart impression.” Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday-Tuesday through Dec. 29. $20 (not including dinner).
