UCLA has confirmed that Mick Cronin will be its men's basketball team's new head coach. Cronin has been the head coach at the University of Cincinnati for the past 13 years, taking the team to the NCAA tournament for nine straight years.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Cronin is getting a six-year deal worth $24 million, nearly double what he was making at UC. Cronin was reportedly UCLA's third choice, after failing to come to terms with Tennesee coach Rick Barnes and Texas Christian's Jamie Dixon.

Cronin played for his dad at La Salle High School. His coaching career began in 1991 when he became an assistant coach at Woodward High School. He worked as a coach during Bob Huggins' tenure at UC and was also an assistant coach at Louisville under Rick Pitino.
