Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aggressively prospect develop and close new business via a variety of sources
  • Work cohesively with prospects and clients to discover their needs and recommend our best solutions
  • Maintain ownership of the sales cycle from first contact through maintenance
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals

Compensation:

  • Base salary + commission + Bonus

Basic Requirements:

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow through

Freelance News Reporter

Love local news? Want to write about it? CityBeat is looking for qualified investigative and short-form journalists to cover our news beat on a freelance basis.

Compensation: Pay is per story and based on length and depth of research/interviews.

Schedule: We are looking for someone to produce at least one impactful long-form piece a month, as well as various breaking news content.

Requirements: Applicants must be avid CityBeat readers and familiar with our style and voice, as well as the topics we cover as an alt weekly. Experience in news writing and reporting for a publication(s) is a must. Other buzzwords for desirable applicants: ethical, independent, self-starter, compassionate, curious, loves data research, inspired by sharing local stories, skilled interviewer.

Photography/Web Edit Internship

Compensation: Recommendations for college credit; parking reimbursement of up to $5/day

Schedule: Varies based on credit requirements, but generally 8-10 hours per week

Position Summary: Our photography/edit internship gives students the opportunity to further their education in photojournalism and editorial photography as well as content creation. Interns will schedule, photograph and edit photos that will be used alongside stories in print and online in articles/blogs/slideshows. Interns will gain experience in event photography with CityBeat hosted events as well as events held throughout the city. In addition to photography, interns will also learn how to source, build slideshows and create captions that will be used on the web.

Requirements/Qualifications: Interns should be comfortable with basic journalistic and photography principles. High ethics are required. You should have your own photography equipment and be familiar with Photoshop/Lightroom. While our hours are flexible, interns must also cope with a varying workload. The ideal intern is an avid CityBeat reader and someone familiar with the sides of Cincinnati we cover.

Editorial Internship

Compensation: Recommendations for college credit; parking reimbursement of up to $5/day

Schedule: Varies based on credit requirements, but generally 8-10 hours per week

Position Summary: Internship revolves around working directly with CityBeat editorial staff to help produce the weekly print and online content.

Requirements/Qualifications: Interns are required to be pursuing a degree or certificate in journalism. We are looking for highly motivated, skilled writers with a working knowledge of AP style. Interns should have taken courses including news writing and journalism law and ethics. Advanced feature writing courses are preferable. While our hours are somewhat flexible, interns must also cope with a varying workload. The ideal intern is an avid CityBeat reader and someone familiar with the sides of Cincinnati we cover.

Events/Promotion Internship

Compensation: Recommendations for college credit; parking reimbursement of up to $5/day

Schedule: Varies based on credit requirements, but generally a maximum of 15 hours per week, including after-hour events (evening/weekend) and some office hours.

Position Summary: The CityBeat Events department specializes in outrageous signature events for CityBeat and A-Line Magazine as well as corporate, nonprofit and individual partners. Under direction of the Promotions/Marketing Coordinator and Event Producer, intern job duties include but are not limited to general design and text for direct mail pieces and event promotion materials; communication with vendors; maintenance of event guest lists and databases; volunteer recruitment and cultivation; research and data collection relevant to CityBeat and our events; creating interactive web sites/giveaways; office, data entry and administration duties; and occasional social media updates and/or event promoting.

Requirements/Qualifications: Interns should have a basic knowledge of special events and/or the hospitality industry. Ideal candidates will possess general knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, as well as the ability to quickly learn new programs. Must be outgoing, able to get people involved and interested in the CityBeat brand. You need to have reliable transportation to and from events/office/errands/etc.
