Popular breakfast and brunch restaurant Sleepy Bee Cafe announced on social media Friday that it would be shuttering its College Hill location at the end of April.
“It is with sadness and many fond memories that we say goodbye to the College Hill community, who welcomed us warmly and with open arms,” the restaurant wrote.
Sleepy Bee opened in College Hill’s Business District in the building of a former furniture store in August 2022. The location along Hamilton Avenue was part of the KEYMARK development project, a $9.5-million project with the aim of revitalizing the community. The restaurant shared that the main reason behind the closure is that breakfast and lunch operations aren’t the best fit for that location.
“We are working closely with College Hill CURC to secure a new restaurant tenant as soon as possible, who will be able to offer dinner service. We adore the community of College Hill and are doing everything in our power to make this a swift transition,” the restaurant wrote in the comments on its Facebook post.
Sleepy Bee’s last day in College Hill will be April 28. It’s located at 5920 Hamilton Ave. The restaurant's downtown Cincinnati, Oakley and Blue Ash locations will remain open.
