We see your Renaissance Festival and raise you Days of Knights: Ohio’s one-and-only and first-ever historically accurate Medieval living event.

Located just outside of Columbus in Lancaster, Ohio, Days of Knights takes would-be time travelers on a journey through the Middle Ages with the aid of 150 re-enactors bringing the sights and sounds — but hopefully not smells — of bygone eras to life in 21st century by way of living history.

Like something out of Night at the Museum, visitors will fall backward into time as they observe the everyday lives of real people as they would have truly lived hundreds of years ago — clothing, accents, armor and all. Following a set of historical camps representing various eras, Days of Knights is set up in chronological order beginning just before the fall of the Roman Empire and ending just on the cusp of the Renaissance.

Visitors can shoot a bow and arrow with archers from the 100 Years War, learn to cook Medieval delicacies and participate in other hands-on demonstrations, get up close and personal with the arms and armor of 1200s crusaders and learn about ye olde aspects of everyday life, all before going home and settling back into the delights of modern technology and indoor plumbing.

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27. Free. Charles Alley Nature Park, 2805 Old Logan Road, Lancaster. More info: thedaysofnights.com.
