You can immerse yourself in art and nature at Hamilton’s Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum this weekend in celebration of Earth Day and International Sculpture Day.

The park’s Art & Earth Day on Saturday, April 27 will focus on both creativity and conservation, with numerous events and activities planned, including a panel discussion; a family-friendly scavenger hunt; and art on display from students at the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP college, the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Hamilton campus of Miami University.

“We are excited to once again host Art & Earth Day at the park. We love highlighting the intersection of art and nature, especially when we can work with our local universities and environmental partners to educate our community” Sarah Templeton Wilson, Pyramid Hill’s executive director, said in a press release.

Maria Jenkins, the education and programs manager at Pyramid Hill, says the event will also spotlight local artists and university students who are committed to practicing sustainability in their craft and seeking creative solutions to environmental issues.

“Art and Earth Day is a chance for us all to celebrate the connections between the natural world and human creativity,” Jenkins said in the release. “We’re thrilled to see the new student work from our local university partners and to hear about the work of exemplary local artists. We hope visitors will be inspired to use their creativity to support environmental health in their homes and communities.”

Visitors can tour the students’ works, located throughout the park, as they’re being installed from noon to 1 p.m. and hear from the students themselves about their creations. Also starting at noon and running to 5 p.m. will be an opposum-themed scavenger hunt. (Note that this opposum-themed only; the park says no actual opposums will be present.)

Adults can also sign up for a workshop on container gardening with native plants from 1-2:30 p.m. You’ll get to learn about native plants and their benefits to nature and wildlife and even get to take a few plants home with you. Pre-registration is required, which you can do here. Registration fees are $20 for park members and $30 for non-members and include park admission, all the tools needed and at least two plants to take home.

Finally, there will be a panel discussion on art and sustainability from 3-4 p.m., featuring local sculptor Roscoe Wilson, painter Devan Horton and fiber artist Amber Ostaszewski, who will talk about the roles nature and conservation play in their work.

Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum general admission is free for members and children 5 and under, $10 for adult non-members and $5 for children ages 6-12.
