Did some of your holiday lights lose their luster as you were decking the halls this year? Instead of just tossing them in the trash, you can take your broken, dead or just-too-tangled-to-deal-with strands of holiday lights to over 40 recycling drop-off locations across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Cohen Recycling is again partnering with various institutions and organizations, including Kenton County Solid Waste Management and Hamilton County’s Great Parks, to collect and recycle these un-twinkly lights. Until Feb. 1, all holiday string lights, both traditional and LED, will be accepted at these various recycling drop-off locations:

  • Winton Woods, 10245 Winton Road, Springfield Township
  • Sharon Woods, 11450 Lebanon Road, Sharonville
  • Miami Whitewater Forest, 9001 Mt. Hope Road, Harrison
  • Covington City Hall, 20 W. Pike St., Covington
  • Kenton County Government Center, 1840 Simon Kenton Way, Covington
  • Kenton County Public Works, 420 Independence Station Road,
  • Independence
  • Voice of America MetroPark, 7850 VOA Park Drive, West Chester
  • Forest Run MetroPark – Timberman Ridge Area, 1976 Timberman Road, Hamilton
  • Warren County Administration Building, 406 Justice Drive, Lebanon
  • Cincinnati Nature Center, Rowe Woods Visitor Center, 4949 Tealtown Road, Milford
  • All Campbell County Public Library branches
  • Boone County Public Works Office, 5645 Idlewild Road, Burlington

You can see the full list of locations here.

Before you drop off your string lights, you are asked to remove all hooks, batteries and ornaments to streamline the recycling process and reduce risk to staff. If you have other electric holiday yard decorations, like a projector or motor from an inflatable, you need to recycle, you can take those to a Cohen Recycling Center. You can find a location at cohenusa.com.

Cohen Recycling says it recycled over 31,000 pounds of lights last year.
