The Summer Cinema series at Washington Park hosts family-friendly blockbusters every Wednesday night. Grab some lawn chairs, lay down a blanket or sprawl out on the grass. Concessions will be available on-site, offering light snacks and refreshments, including beer, wine and spirits.

This week, the park is screening The Fast and The Furious. The original in the now eight-film series, The Fast and the Furious follows undercover cop Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker, RIP) as he tries to infiltrate the street racing underground in Los Angeles.

The literal premise is a bunch of “fast and furious” racers are hijacking semi-trucks in their tricked-out Hondas and stealing items from truck hauls to resell. But, like, not really. Mostly you see Vin Diesel, his friends and various other “gear heads” drag-racing their cars plus scantily clad women — but also ladies holding their own as drivers — as they all converge to compete in the unfortunately named Race Wars in the desert.

Lots of weird problematic 2001 stuff, but lots of high-octane action. Explosions. Wheelies. JNCOs. And tons of NOS — the gas and the energy drink.

9-11 p.m. Wednesday., July 24. Free admission. Washington Park, 1230 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine, washingtonpark.org
