Coming off their historic playoff run, the University of Cincinnati Bearcats have been ranked 22nd out of the top 25 college football teams in the country by the America Football Coaches Association (AFCA) in the preseason college football "USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll."

The Bearcats ended the 2021-2022 season with an undefeated regular season record and became the first non-Power Five conference team to go to the College Football Playoffs where they lost 27-6 to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

While everyone's record is 0-0 at the moment, this ranking predicts how the panel of 65 head National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) coaches see the 2022-2023 season playing out.

This panel is randomly selected, and each coach is asked to submit their top 25 list, and the overall ranking is created from there. This poll is conducted weekly during the regular season.

Last year, leading into their playoff run, the Bearcats were ranked 10th in the preseason poll, and in 2020 they took the same 22nd place spot

Cincinnati sits just behind the University of Kentucky, and it comes as no shock to many that Ohio State ranked number two with the University of Alabama taking the number one spot.
