21c Museum Hotel’s rooftop bar will reopen this month after being reimagined with a new concept.

New chef Zachary Barnes’ menu will turn The Rooftop at 21c into a coastal-inspired oasis with Peruvian-style fare. 21c says Barnes brings international inspirations “with a slap of Southern behind it.” He joined the hotel in 2021 as a line cook and was appointed as executive chef at Metropole and The Rooftop at 21c this year. His style of cooking embraces simplicity with intentionality, where every ingredient plays a role to create refined, but approachable, dishes, 21c says.

“When I moved across the country from Seattle to Cincinnati, Chef Vanessa Miller took me under her wing. Her guidance and mentorship have prepared me to showcase my distinct personality and point of view through the menus at Metropole and The Rooftop at 21c. Above all, her friendship and support have meant the world to me. She actually just officiated my wedding ceremony on the rooftop, so it holds an even more special place in my heart,” Barnes said in a press release.
The Rooftop at 21c’s new menu features tapas-style dishes with bright flavors, like Amarillo Chicken Skewers with black walnut, jasmine rice and spring onion, as well as seafood-forward items, like the Halibut Ceviche with roasted corn, avocado, cilantro and sweet potato and Hamachi Tiradito with aji amarillo, yuzu and miso. For dessert, you can try Peruvian Chocotejas and housemade Dulce de Leche Macarons.

21c says each dish is meant to be shared alongside the coastal-inspired cocktails, with fresh takes on traditional summer sips like caipirinhas, palomas and margaritas. They also offer buckets of ice-cold beer to share, as well as non-alcoholic drinks.

The Rooftop at 21c is open Thursday through Saturday from 4-10 p.m. The bar will host a Cincinnati Pride after-party on Saturday, June 24 in partnership with Warmth Culture, a Black, queer femme-led music collaborative. DJ Pillo and DJ Rah D will be playing from 7-10 p.m., and the rooftop bar will also offer a special Pride cocktail, Friend of Dorothy. For each Pride cocktail sold, 21c Museum Hotel will donate a portion of the proceeds to Transform Cincy.
