A new vegan-focused restaurant is coming to downtown Cincinnati. Almost V’Gan Lounge is expected to open at the Court Street Plaza early next year.

3CDC says local entrepreneurs and Almost V’Gan co-owners Jarvis Shaw and Sean Reed signed a lease at 34 E. Court St., where they’ll open their sit-down eatery geared toward health-conscious diners and those with alternative diets. Shaw said he was inspired to open the restaurant after experimenting with a vegan diet and finding a lack of options at other restaurants.

“My own personal experience led me to want to own a place where people could socialize and enjoy food that suited all lifestyles and diets,” Shaw said in a press release. “Everywhere I went, the only thing I could eat was salad – and it got old fast. At Almost V’Gan Lounge, you won’t have to worry about that. Everything will have a vegan pairing. So, for every item that contains meat, there will be a similar meatless option.”

Shaw and Reed say they want Almost V’Gan to be a place where everyone feels welcomed and can have a five-star experience through great customer service and an impeccable menu.

Almost V’Gan will have a full bar and bar menu, with dishes like smoked pot roast, smoked jackfruit tacos, grilled watermelon & feta salad, grilled salmon and grilled tofu sliders. Chef Camerron Dangerfield, who has appeared on the Food Network and MasterChef, is the culinary partner and helped build out the menu. Locally sourced ingredients will be used when possible, and the menu will also feature vegan, non-alcoholic beverages, like their passionfruit and hibiscus lemonade and blackberry mint iced tea.

“I love that Almost V’Gan Lounge has curated their menu in a way that caters to people who enjoy a variety of types of cuisines,” said Lindzie Gunnels, commercial leasing manager with 3CDC, in the release. “Whether your diet includes meat or not, you can come here knowing you’ll be able to find something to eat that isn’t boring or plain – something you can’t find elsewhere. As we continue to add new food and beverage options to the mix on Court Street, we’re looking to meet the needs of a diverse range of individuals, and we feel like AV Lounge really complements the other establishments in the area.”

Inside, Almost V’Gan will craft a calm, relaxed atmosphere with deep, warm colors; low lighting; and wood accents throughout. The space will be divided in two, with one side hosting a restaurant with bottle service and the other featuring an upscale bar and lounge. There will also be an outdoor dining space. The restaurant is working with City Studios and TriVersity Construction on the design and buildout, which is on track to be completed in early 2024.
