Fifty West Brewing Company is continuing to build upon their Columbia Township empire with the addition of the new Fifty West Burger Bar, an homage to the 1950s roadside root beer stand.

While the original opening date for the concept was May 2020, the food portion is slated to open this week for online ordering and carry-out. The Burger Bar menu includes burgers, hot dogs, crinkle-cut fries, housemade soda and, of course, Fifty West beer. All items are available for pick-up at 7605 Wooster Pike, Columbia Township.

“This virus has our country and the service industry reeling. By opening up the Fifty West Burger Bar for online ordering and carry-out, we’re able to serve affordably priced food to the local community during this pandemic,” said Fifty West founder Bobby Slattery in a release.

Each protein — single or double burger, chicken patty, flattop dog or Beyond burger — comes 12 different ways, named for the 12 different states U.S. Route 50 travels through.

“From our 'Kansas' style with bacon, pickle, coleslaw, American cheese, and smoky barbeque to our 'Maryland' style with Old Bay tartar sauce, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion, we have a burger for every palate,” said Vice President of Strategy and Operations Max Fram. “We’re also debuting housemade root beer and orange floats, with plans to serve vanilla, chocolate, and beer-infused milkshakes in the near future for those with a sweet tooth."

On the menu, there's also the Virginia, made with pimento cheese; the Ohio, topped with Cincinnati-style chili; and the Utah, with fry sauce, pastrami and Swiss cheese.

The Burger Bar is part of the ongoing Fifty West expansion at their Production Works facility, which includes a new beer garden to unite the existing volleyball courts with a new futsal court, added green space, bike parking and a kids sandbox. It also connects to phase one of the Little Miami Scenic Trail extension, which should be complete in May.

“Sometimes I wake up and I can’t believe how much the world has changed,” continued Slattery. “All we can do is smile, stay positive, and try to put our best foot forward as we all try to bring out the best in one another. We will do everything in our power to have the space ready for the public when we’re allowed to be together again.”
