Newport Cuban Restaurant Amador Holding Grand Opening Wednesday

A piece of Newport will soon have the feeling of Havana as Greater Cincinnati welcomes its first full-service Cuban restaurant, Amador.

Located at Newport on the Levee, Amador is celebrating its grand opening Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. The restaurant is the third concept from Pesola Hospitality Group, which also owns Revolution Rotisserie in Pleasant Ridge and Milkman in Over-the-Rhine.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the energy and playful atmosphere of Amador to the community and showcase our modern approach to classic Cuban cuisine,” Nick Pesola, owner of Pesola Hospitality Group, said in a release. “As Newport on the Levee continues its evolution into a true entertainment destination, we’re excited to add a brand-new spot to the mix where people can step inside and feel as though they’ve immediately been transported to a tropical vacation.”

According to the release, Amador features a jungle-esque vibe, with lush greenery and an outdoor patio that overlooks the Ohio River and Cincinnati Skyline. It also has a bodega-style walk-up window, which they call “La Ventanita” (little window), where visitors can order something to-go from a limited menu.

On the menu, you’ll find traditional Cuban dishes like empanadas, croquetas, and Cubano sandwiches, but with an Amador twist. And unlike other Cuban restaurants, their small plates are meant to be shared. To drink, the restaurant will have craft cocktails and Latin American beers, wines and rare spirits. Cuban coffee will also be served.

Dinner hours are 5-9 p.m. and lunch service is expected to follow in a few weeks.
