Maribelle’s eat & drink will close Sunday, May 6 after serving the Oakley community for almost 12 years. The tavern has been sold to an unnamed buyer.
Owner Leigh Enderle, who opened Maribelle’s in December 2006, then moved the eatery to its current location in 2012, said that she chose to sell her business for the opportunity to live another lifestyle. “I want to simplify my lifestyle and make time for friends, family, traveling and career growth,” Enderle said. “Owning Maribelle’s has been the honor of my life.”
Enderle is also currently employed as Director of Research at Sensation Research, a Mason-based consumer research firm.
Mike Florea, Enderle’s operating partner and executive chef, said that he is excited to work toward growth and new opportunities in the restaurant industry. “We’ve created a family of employees and guests, which has been very fulfilling,” he said. “Being a part of people’s lives and families, knowing them and becoming friends has been the most amazing part of this journey and business.”
Florea will become owner and operator of Karrikin Spirits Company, which opens in Fairfax this fall.
Maribelle’s super popular Food Fight 513, a cooking competition that pits industry pros against local amateurs, will now be held in Karrikin’s kitchen.
Maribelle’s last service will be Sunday brunch on May 6. The restaurant is located at 3235 Madison Road, Oakley.
