The 15th-annual Findlay Market Chili Cook-Off pits amateur chefs against each other in a heated battle to see whose food will reign supreme and which home cook will earn the title of Chili Meister.

Judges from OTR Engine Co. 5, Gold Star and MadTree Brewing will be sampling each selection to pick an official winner and the public is invited to sample the spoils as well. Entry into the competition is full, but head to Findlay Market from noon to 1 p.m. to watch; the winner will be announced at 1 p.m., and then free samples of competition chili will be available (while supplies last).

And at 3 p.m., stick around to check out the Hot Sauce Boss competition.

If you want to sample special chili from market vendors, purchase tickets in advance to dine on goodies like Greek chili from Areti’s Gyros, Texas beer bacon chili from Eckerlin Meats and banana pepper bread and jalapeño bread from Em’s Sourdough.

If you want some libations to sooth a spicy tongue, head to the Fire & Ice cocktail bar or MadTree beer bar and check out live music from Everything’s Jake.

Noon-4 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 27). $2 sample ticket; $10 for six sample tickets; $20 for 15 sample tickets. Findlay Market, 1801 Race St., Over-the-Rhine, findlaymarket.org
