A local band is trying to recover from a theft incident in July to prepare for an upcoming November tour and album release.

A GoFundMe was established by Fruit LoOops, a Cincinnati-based art-punk band, seeking $7,000 to repair and/or renew stolen and damaged gear and merchandise. On the GoFundMe page, lead vocalist Jackie Switzer details the July 24 theft incident, which left the band without one of their two touring vehicles and most of the gear for their set.

It was the fourth day of Fruit LoOops' summer tour, Switzer says, and after the band’s car was stolen much of the gear inside was found tossed over a 6-foot fence miles from the incident, while the rest was taken with the vehicle.

“We filed an insurance claim for the stolen and broken gear of $10,000 which was at minimum what was needed to replace. The claim came through mid-September and we were only awarded $500 of the $10,000, even though items in the car should have been covered up to $16,000 under the policy,” the GoFundMe page reads.

Fruit LoOops were able to complete the summer tour by “scrounging for lesser quality pieces,” and by borrowing equipment from other touring bands. The band's tour to support their upcoming album You’re Somebody’s World kicks off Nov. 2 in Cincinnati at Northside Tavern. The band is hoping to reach the $7,000 GoFundMe goal in order to replace gear and fund the tour.

“Our band is now about to venture on an even longer tour this November of 2023 and we need help recovering costs and replacing the gear that was damaged/stolen this past summer,” the GoFundMe page says. The page lists the items that were damaged and/or stolen.

The upcoming album’s single “Traffic” debuted on Oct. 2 with an accompanying music video. You’re Somebody’s World debuts Nov. 3 via Torn Light Records.
