Jay Hill is a well of words and sounds. The Cincinnati hip-hop artist’s Soundcloud portfolio seemingly never ends. That portfolio has now expanded with the addition of a brand new EP titled "SIENNA."

As one of four members of the local hip-hop collaboration Patterns of Chaos (POC) and member of No Cool Kids Allowed – self-proclaimed musicologists who curate shows and events – Hill is seemingly an authority in the Cincinnati music scene.

The five-track EP was released by Fake Four, Inc., a record label out of New Haven, Connecticut, that specializes in experimental hip-hop.

“I don't believe in being unequal/But some guns only stun people/We in the league where they shun people/Gassed up like they run diesel…” Hill raps on the intro track of "SIENNA," “Jason Hillard," composed by Jay Hill, Roberto and Kelby Savage.

“What’s it got to do with me though?" Hill questions as the song continues, guided by an acute, earnest delivery and carried by low hums and a chaotic but subdued series of drawn out sounds.

The EP's second number, “Riverside," featuring Roberto and Freedom Nicole Moore, is possibly the most unforgettable of the collection. Hill delivers line after thoughtful line following a light, chiming keyboard intro. Hill nearly scats his way into the lyrics as the melody meets his words, which clumsily but purposefully fall into place.

“How many things can we hold and keep true/How much cake can we have and eat, too?” a line in “Riverside” asks.

Full of intense moments that could stand  alone but create an impressive collection of songs, "SIENNA" expertly delivers the wild brand that is Jay Hill. Listen or purchase "SIENNA" today on Fake Four Inc., Bandcamp.

Catch Jay Hill Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. at Revel OTR Urban Winery for “Under the Stairs,” presented by No Cool Kids Allowed featuring Hill, On a Limb and Roberto.

"SIENNA" was produced by Jay Hill and Roberto, mixed and mastered by Roberto for Stoop Kid Recordings and Broken Clock Productions, with creative input from HUNNiB. Moulz & Mel appear courtesy of the Rap Ranking Podcast.
