Cincinnati Jamgrass/Americana outfit Highly Likely came together just last year. The musicians decided to combine their talents after knowing each other from their various other projects and bumping into each other on the local music circuit.
The group of songwriters — Char Bowling (guitar/vocals), Andy Tracy (drums/harmonica/vocals), Brian Bowling (banjo), Jeff Roades (bass/vocals) and Mark Miller (mandolin/vocals) — has since played regularly in the area, including at festivals like Birds of a Feather and Rhythm Brew fests. The musicians cite everyone from Peter Rowan, Bill Monroe and Leftover Salmon to Frank Zappa, Miles Davis and Grateful Dead as influences.
Early next year Highly Likely will release their debut album, Sunrise. Today CityBeat is thrilled to premiere the music video for the lively Sunrise track "Never Left Here." The song showcases the group's endearing blend of energetic performance, expert musicianship and solid songcraft.
Directed and edited by Sarah Davis, the video for "Never Left Here" was shot around the famous Loveland Castle (aka Château Laroche), about 20 miles north of Cincinnati.
Highly Likely is opening for Leftover Salmon's Vince Herman this Sunday, Dec. 1 at Dead Low Brewing near Riverbend and Coney Island. Fellow local act Hickory Robot will also play the 6 p.m. show.
