A popular Black-owned wine bar and music lounge in Over-the-Rhine is launching a concert series that will feature national recording artists at various, intimate live music venues around Cincinnati.

Nostalgia Wine & Jazz Lounge’s first “Nostalgia Night Out” show, performed by singer/songwriter Durand Bernarr, will be held Saturday, Oct. 14 at Memorial Hall. Tickets are $45-$75 and can be purchased at memorialhallotr.com.

Nostalgia Night Out comes ahead of Nostalgia Jazz Festival, a music and wine festival the lounge has planned for the spring.

“Cincinnati is a music town full of talented independent artists and music enthusiasts. Nostalgia Night Out and our upcoming R&B/jazz and wine festival is another way for us to keep our city activated through live music on a larger scale year-round,” Tammie Scott, founder and co-owner of Nostalgia, said in a press release.

Scott says Nostalgia was inspired by stories of Cincinnati’s West End Cotton Club, which was at one time the city’s only integrated nightclub. West End Cotton Club hosted jazz performers like Duke Ellington and Sarah Vaughn into the 1950s, and, similarly, Nostalgia hosts nightly live music sets meant to transport guests back to a familiar time and place, says Scott.

Nostalgia also places a focus on creating an inclusive wine-tasting experience, working with local distributors to create a wine list showcasing minority and women winemakers and spirit producers. For Nostalgia Night Out and the Nostalgia Jazz Festival, the performances will be complemented with carefully curated tasting experiences featuring minority-owned brands, Scott says.
