Like many rappers, Young Jeezy has spent a good deal of his career collaborating with other performers. On his 2008 release, The Recession, his first single off the album, “Put On,” featured Kanye West. The song earned him a Grammy nod and kicked his career into overdrive. After a Top 10 hit with Akon on “Soul Survivor,” he found even more stars willing to add his name to their songs (most notably, Rihanna and Usher). Recently, Jeezy earned yet another Grammy nomination for his 2011 single, “Lose My Mind.” The single was another collaboration, this time with Plies. A well-received remix performed at the BET Awards, though, features a verse by Drake, instead of Plies.Though Jeezy’s musical record is outstanding so far, his criminal record isn’t quite as clean. He spent time in a Georgia boot camp as a youth after being arrested for drug possession. In recent years, he’s found himself in front of a judge for carrying a concealed gun without a permit and also for a DUI. After growing up in a broken family and regularly being passed between family members, it’s probably a miracle he’s made it this far, let alone be a thriving Hip Hop star. (Through no fault of his own, Jeezy’s recent performance in Orlando made headlines after turning into a “riot” that the MC blamed on club security.)For Jeezy's show in Cincy Friday, we can’t promise any dream-team collaborations will go down, but we can promise one hell of a party.
YOUNG JEEZY performs Friday, March 9 at Bogart's. Buy tickets, check out performance times and get venue details here.
