For several years now, the University of Cincinnati’s Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition has been held annually at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center. The unconventional off-campus exhibition space always seems to get the artists out of their comfort zones and is particularly well suited for the installation artists coming out of the program. EXIT, this year's exhibition, features 16 artists completing the program. Christian Schmit has created an epic adventure that blurs fantasy and psychosis in papier-mache environments. Patty Corbett is a farmer who creates meals from locally grown foods; the traces of the meal left on paper table covers act as drawings after the fact. Saneeya Ghadially will be altering the building's lower entrance to suggest decay. Chris Land’s paintings might seem goofy at first glance but ultimately exhibit a heightened awareness of the dilemma of contemporary painting. The exhibition opens this Friday with a reception 6-9 p.m., and continues through June 11. Gallery hours are noon-8 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon Friday. The CCAC is located at 3711 Clifton Ave. in Clifton.
