For a sexy summer day trip, get over to Columbus to see the Wexner Center for the Arts’s trio of erotically charged exhibitions before they come down on July 31. Double Sexus brings together work by Louise Bourgeois and Hans Bellmer. Sculptures, drawings and prints from their respective careers have been curated into sections based on themes taken from such literary figures as Henry Miller and Georges Bataille. Both artists use sex symbols and bodily forms to explore transgression, power and psychology. Pipilotti Rist — one of the most influential video artists working today — presents an installation called The Tender Room, that deploys projected videos, trance-inducing soundtracks and vibrantly hued gels over the Wexner’s windows to create a seductive look through “rose colored glasses.” The video works juxtapose human bodies with nature to create a charged, immersive space. Nathalie Djurberg’s Human Behavior features four stop-motion videos with accompanying sculptures and music by Hans Berg. Sex takes a turn for the darkly political, as Djurberg’s puppets enact tales of violence, war and exploitation.
