A northern white rhinoceros named Angalifu died of old age at the San Diego Zoo on Dec. 14, according to The Washington Post. There are now just five northern white rhinos left worldwide, all in captivity. The species’ last chance at survival lies in “artificial reproductive techniques,” the AP reports. If such techniques fail, the species will most likely become extinct. World -2

The former site of Jeff Ruby’s Waterfront restaurant in Covington is set to be transformed into a kayaking, canoeing and rowing destination, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Milford-based Queen City Water Sports Club has plans to create a boathouse at the site where people can rent water sports equipment along the Ohio River. At least 126 people have been killed after six Taliban gunmen attacked a military-run school in Peshawar, Pakistan Dec. 16, according to reports. More than 100 of the dead are children, most between the ages of 12 and 16. All six attackers were killed after Pakistani soldiers surrounded the school and exchanged gunfire, officials confirmed.
