Been wondering where you can get a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot? Starting today, Greater Cincinnati area Walgreens pharmacies will be offering Pfizer boosters to those who qualify based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to recently released guidance, the following people are eligible — and either should or may, according to the CDC — receive a Pfizer booster shot:

  • people 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
  • people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series,
  • people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks, and
  • people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.

In a press release, Walgreens says they will be offering same-day, walk-in appointments but do recommend scheduling an appointment.

Schedule your booster shot at walgreens.com/schedulevaccineby calling 1-800-Walgreens or by calling your local Walgreens pharmacy.

The shot is free and available to qualifying patients at least six months past their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

"Patients can either bring their COVID-19 vaccine dose card to the appointment so the booster shot can be recorded, or information about their primary vaccine series to receive a new vaccine card noting the booster dose," says the release.
