Dancing Queen: Dawn Landes at MOTR

Twenty minutes ago I knew next to nothing about Dawn Landes. A few keystrokes later I found out that her third full-length album of country-folk ditties, Sweetheart Rodeo, was unveiled to the world in January and that she's repeatedly denied that the title of the record has anything to do with The Byrds' 1968 album Sweethearts of the Rodeo.—-

I also noticed that she'll be stopping by MOTR tomorrow night (that'd be Thursday, May 26 for those of you lost in a cyberspace haze); that she is married to fellow musician Josh Ritter (apparently their union has recently hit a rough patch); that she's toured with Justin Townes Earle (who coincidentally will be in town on Sunday); and that her voice sounds a lot like Chan Marshall (aka Cat Power) in the freshly minted video for “Young Girl,” a catchy foot-stomper that finds Landes clad in a sweet cowboy getup while line dancing at what looks like an Elks Lodge. Count me intrigued. And count me in for a stop at her MOTR show, wherein I hope she breaks out her dancing skills.
