Even though April and May got a little confused this year, all these beautiful gardens that we’re able to enjoy today make all that late rain worth it.

The 27th Annual Neighborhood Gardens Tour is the perfect opportunity for you to experience what type of dedication goes into three local gardens that aim to build a strong sense of community and family as well as provide useful skills to help you throw down in your own garden. But we’re not just talking flowers here, people. This tour is based on the vegetable gardening of the Gardens at Green Village, Xavier University’s NEXUS Community Garden and the Civic Garden Center Vegetable Garden.

You’ll be able to meet the gardeners, get some advice, hear some great stories and, not to mention, taste some of their harvest. Mmm ... veggies.

Buses will board at the Civic Garden Center, and from there you’ll be off to the gardens. An evening that’s guaranteed to be good, and good for you, while supporting the neighborhood? Check! Come out 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Civic Garden Center, 2715 Reading Road, Avondale. $12 per person.
