Goodbye, Duppy a Jamba and Hello, Secret Six

Jan 10, 2011 at 10:12 am

Popular Northern Kentucky Ska/Reggae/Rock crew Duppy a Jamba is no more. But fans shouldn’t be too disappointed. The band announced, due to a creative shift in new material, though membership is essentially the same, it has changed its name to The Secret Six.—-

Nominated for multiple Cincinnati Entertainment Awards, Duppy a Jamba amassed a strong local following in its four years of existence and were spreading their infectious Ska/Reggae mélange further with some occasional touring. Duppy played its last show as Duppy in mid-December.

The Secret Six enters 2011 with a batch of new songs (and shows, coming soon), which will surface on a new album, currently being recorded with ex-Greenhornes/Soledad Brothers member (and current solo artist with a nationally released album on Alive Records) Brian Olive. The title given by the band on its Facebook page for the new release is Licking River Rocksteady.

There’s no music up yet (nor shows scheduled) but you can keep an eye on the “new” band’s MySpace and Facebook pages for updates. Here's a video clips from the ol' Duppy days.
