Early voting in the presidential primary election, which will determine which candidates will appear on November ballots, is currently underway, and the Hamilton County Board of Elections (BOE) is actively hiring registered voters to work as Election Day poll workers.

“Poll workers are a vital part of every election and approximately 2,400 are needed to fully staff a county-wide election. If you are interested in becoming a poll worker for the March 19th Presidential Primary, head to our website and apply today!” Hamilton County BOE Director Sherry Poland said in a press release.

Hamilton County BOE Deputy Director Alex Linser said poll workers are also getting a raise this year. Poll workers will earn between $225 and $275 for training, setup and working the polls on Election Day. You can apply here.

Requirements to be a poll worker include:
  • Be a registered and active voter in Hamilton County
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language
  • Be comfortable using electronic technology
  • Not be a candidate for any office to be voted on at the polling place at that election
  • Not be a convicted felon
The March 19 primary election will include several important state and national primary races, including the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate and the Democratic nominee for the Ohio Supreme Court.
Early voting in Hamilton County takes place at the Hamilton County Board of Elections office at 4700 Smith Road in Norwood. You can see more information on early voting — including when you can vote early, what you need to bring and where you can find a sample ballot — here.
