Are you a 1960s and contemporary pop culture fanatic? Are you bored of the same old, unoriginal discussions on pop culture goddesses? Then head to the Popular Library Reading Lounge of the Main Library this Saturday. Luke Geddes, Ph.D. student of fiction at the University of Cincinnati, will be reading excerpts from his first book, I Am a Magical Teenage Princess, a collection of short stories that celebrates and reexamines popular icons such as Betty and Veronica and Wonder Woman in a light fit only for an adult audience. Geddes’ pop culture knowledge, wit and snarky personality are evident on every page. Copies will be for sale and Geddes will be on hand to answer questions and sign books after his reading. Free. 4 p.m. Saturday Aug. 18. Main branch in the Popular Library Reading Lounge, Cincinnati Public Library. 800 Vine St., Downtown. 513-369-6919, cincinnatilibrary.org.
