It’s your last chance to catch one of the holiday productions onstage at several local theaters. Even though Christmas is in the rearview mirror, you can extend the holiday spirit with a performance that’s suited to the season. The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s beautiful production of A Christmas Carol will “God rest its merry gentleman” with a 7 p.m. performance on Friday. You can catch the finale of the musical fairytale Snow White at Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati on Saturday at noon (perhaps offering the kids a treat so you can get out of the house on New Year’s Eve). Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival is still working hard, presenting a 2 p.m. Saturday performance to finish its run of the wordy, witty Love’s Labour’s Lost, and then making merry one last time at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday with its hilarious take-off on Christmas TV specials and movies, Every Christmas Story Ever Told (and then some!), also presented on its mainstage on Race Street. The latter has more to do with having a good time than cherishing the season, so it’s a perfect launching pad for a raucous New Year’s Eve — and you’ll be out in time to head to a party or Fountain Square to ring in 2012.
