You can find your new furry best friend for just a few dollars at Cincinnati Animal CARE (CAC) this week.

From Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 14-17, adoption fees for dogs over the age of 6 months will be just $5. CAC says this comes after it took in more than 230 animals in 11 days.

“Two hundred thirty new animals, plus hundreds of animals who were already here, we’re nearing triple our total capacity at your county animal shelter,” Ray Anderson, CAC’s community engagement manager, said in a press release. “We have never had to house multiple animals in a single kennel together. We don’t want to pull that lever, but we need our community to come out and adopt this weekend! There are so many amazing dogs here that are sitting in cages for no good reason, it’s time for them to go home!”

CAC says it has a wide variety of dogs of all looks, sizes, ages, play styles, personalities and energy levels available for adoption, and the special fee applies to any dog over 6 months old at any of its facilities. The adoption fee includes the dog’s spay or neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, first medical exam and an initial assessment from certified behavior and training specialists. It does not include the Hamilton County dog license or anything like crates, leashes or collars.

To adopt a dog, visit CAC at 3949 Colerain Ave. or 4210 Dane Ave. in Northside from 1-6 p.m. daily or stop by its boutique adoption shop at 3262 Highland Ave. in Pleasant Ridge on Saturday or Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
