The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden made a very small and fuzzy announcement this morning (Oct. 18).

The zoo introduced their new, nearly five-week-old baby bearcat who will be the zoo's fourth bearcat to be a mascot for the University of Cincinnati. The most recent UC bearcat mascot, 12-year-old Lucy, retired earlier this year.

The unnamed baby bearcat will live in the zoo's Animal Ambassador Center, which is located in the Children's Zoo; guests can visit her through the AAC windows.

The zoo wants your help in deciding the baby's name. You can submit your choices through social media by hashtagging #namethebearcat. During UC's homecoming game on Nov. 8, the winning name will be announced.

The zoo plans to make the baby's Fifth Third Arena debut during the second half of the University of Cincinnati's 2019-2020 season.

The baby bearcat was born at the Nashville Zoo and is a Palawan binturong, which is from the Philippines' Palawan Island. They usually weigh between 20 and 40 pounds, but the baby currently weighs 2.2 pounds.
