Last weekend, a viral tweet showed a packed pool that In The Before Time would have simply been fodder for pee jokes but In These Times drew concern that Put-in-Bay in Northern Ohio is for the coronavirus what Florida Spring Break is for chlamydia.

Put-in-Bay is experiencing peak visitors well before the peak of the summer season usually arrives, and while many businesses are likely thankful that the forecasted dip in tourism hasn't proven true for the island, officials are instead experiencing worry as the Lake Erie destination seems to have attracted a healthy portion of people who don't believe in wearing masks or practicing social distancing.

And on Tuesday, June 30, the Ottawa County Health Department announced that a coronavirus outbreak on Put-in-Bay infected at least seven people between June 17 and June 21 and that anyone who visited the Commodore Hotel, The Mist or Mr. Ed's during that period of time should watch for COVID-19 symptoms.

The announcement is a not-so-friendly reminder that this pandemic isn't going anywhere and if you're planning on traveling to popular vacation destinations (or going to any public spaces) you should WEAR A MASK AND NOT GET CLOSE TO PEOPLE.
