Mariemont's The National Exemplar Celebrates 40-Year Anniversary With Events and Promotions

One of Greater Cincinnati’s most iconic restaurants is celebrating four decades in business this April with some special promotions and events.

Brothers Ken and Paul Pendery opened The National Exemplar in Mareimont in April 1983 inside the Mariemont Inn. Featuring a menu of American-style cuisine served for breakfast, lunch and dinner, The National Exemplar has since become a popular neighborhood tradition.

“We would not be here today without the overwhelming support of our guests, neighbors, vendors, friends, family, and employees, past and present,” co-founder Ken Pendery said in a press release. “At its core, the mission has always remained the same, to create an exemplary dining experience for our guests with a delicious meal and excellent service.”

To mark the occasion, The National Exemplar is offering specials throughout its anniversary week, Tuesday-Sunday, April 11-16. Throughout the week, the restaurant will offer a “Throwback Menu,” featuring some of their most popular dishes of all time.

And on Thursday, April 13, the restaurant is celebrating its Anniversary Day with 40-cent coffee from 7-11 a.m., $2 off brunch cocktails and wine by the glass, half-priced wine at dinner and live music in Southerby's Bar from 5 p.m. to close. Then at 5:30 p.m., Mariemont mayor (and village town crier) Bill Brown will make a proclamation followed by a champagne toast.

The National Exemplar will also wrap the celebratory week up with free carrot cake when you dine in on Sunday, April 16.

The restaurant only takes reservations for dinner, but you can join their Yelp waitlist for breakfast or lunch.
