An LGBTQ+-friendly Over-the-Rhine bar is reaching out to the community for help to keep the space spinning.

The Orbit Room is an upscale neighborhood bar located in the historic Apotheke building at the corner of Vine and Findlay streets. It often features live music, along with signature cocktails and plant-based food from neighbor Essen Kitchen. The bar’s owner, Daniel Bavis, launched a GoFundMe, "Help Keep The Orbit Room OTR Shining Bright!" Thursday with a goal of $45,000 to help keep it open.

“Nestled in the heart of Over-the-Rhine, our cozy corner has been a beacon of community, music, and good times for years. From intimate concerts to lively gatherings, we've been the backdrop to countless memories,” Bavis writes. “But now, we need your help to keep our Orbit spinning! As much as we love what we do, the realities of expenses, rising rent, equipment maintenance, and the need for remodeling and upgrades weigh heavily on us. That's where you come in.”

Bavis says the GoFundMe aims to raise the money to help The Orbit Room settle its expenses, maintain and upgrade equipment for performances and revamp the space to create an even more welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

“Whether you've spent a fantastic night with us or dream of experiencing the magic for the first time, we invite you to be part of our story,” writes Bavis.

As of this writing, The Orbit Room has raised $520 toward its goal. You can donate to the GoFundMe here.
